Many producers don't have the time or the funds to perform testing on incoming materials/resins. However, the advantage of such a program greatly benefits the molder and the end-user. The use of such programs creates a history of test results for a certain grade of resin, which may be compared to previous test results for that grade. If a rejection comes back to the molder, either due to customer complaint, or other type of problem, the customer can use the data to confirm the base resin. This would eliminate the use of contacting the supplier direct, which sometimes may be a waste of time.
The Q.C. Programs at CRT Laboratories entail the use of DSC , FT-IR & Melt Flow Rate in order to qualify incoming resins on a lot-to-lot basis. Other tests may include Specific Gravity/Density, Physical & Mechanical properties or performance tests
Depending on the testing scope, minimum testing charges start at $65.00. Although, certain test programs offer extensive discounts, based on the sample submission and number of annual samples received. Sample Identification can be on the low end of $185.00 - and an approximate high end of $500.00. (depending on how deep the analyses goes). Chemical & Additives testing may involve higher costs due to Infrared and extractions.
CRT has established Q.C. Programs with many major suppliers and has found that even the smaller shops greatly benefit from our programs. They have seen lessor rejection rates, better production qualities and documentation of test results, hence a reliable and quality orientated workshop.
Depending on the testing scope, CRT generally completes most of its projects within 4-7 working days upon receipt. Many times, we have completed the project prior to its deadline date. CRT prescribes a deadline date whenever a project is received and entered into our system. If problems arise with a project, the client is contacted that day to discuss the delay and/or problem.
Once the project is complete, a test report is generated with all necessary information, including sample identification, testing standards and results of testing. This report is faxed to the customer when generated and the original report sent in the mail. CRT does offer RUSH Testing for companies currently in production, hence a 20% RUSH fee would be applied to the grand total for the project. If RUSH testing is required, the project is entered immediately upon receipt and started right away. Test results would be generated in nearly half the time of our normal service.
CRT begins by defining the problem and creating the most cost efficient and accurate proposal. The quotation is outlined in sections and categories for a more simplified review, which include prices, number of samples/specimens and the unit cost for each test. The expected lead-time is also indicated on the bottom of each proposal and may be discussed upon authorization.
