CRT Laboratories maintains in-house sample preparation capabilities to ensure optimum specimen quality for testing. By producing our specimens in-house we maintain control over the material from the time it arrives to the completion of testing. If a problem arises with the material or the specimens, the ability to produce our own specimens allows rapid corrective action, expediting the completion of testing.
CRT's machining capabilities include injection molding, 2-roll milling, compression molding, die cutting, and extrusion, each of which are discussed in detail below. CRT also offers machining (CNC, Wire EDM, etc.) services apart from testing; should you need test specimens, we will be happy to provide high-quality specimens for use with your testing program.
Please fill out our Guest Book to receive more information about CRT's machining capabilities or fill out a quote request.
CRT is an approved laboratory for the National Sanitation Foundation (NSF) and produces the finest quality of test specimens. CRT is the only outside laboratory recognized by the National Sanitation Foundation (NSF), and currently submitting applications for testing approval.
CRT performs all injection-molded specimen preparation in-house to ensure the highest possible quality test specimens. CRT uses an Arburg allrounder 221•55•250 28-ton injection molding machine with precision cavities for the most common test specimens used.
Each specimen produced is individually examined and measured to verify its quality and dimensions, ensuring its acceptability for testing.
The molding parameters used for every project are documented; this allows a high degree of reproducibility for ongoing projects or repeat projects.
When the materials in testing call for compression molding, CRT maintains the equipment to produce test material in-house. CRT has the following machines to produce test plaques for further machining:
With these machines, CRT can consistently produce high-quality plaques of customer materials for machining test specimens. CRT will use these plaques to die-cut final test specimens (see below), or you may request plaques for final machining at your site.
As with our injection molding, all processing parameters are documented to allow reproducibility of results in the future.
CRT uses a Herman-Schwabe Series 1470 clicker press in conjunction with many high-accuracy cutting dies to produce a wide array of specimens for use in testing.
By machining these specimens in-house, CRT can guarantee the best test results possible.
As with our other machining procedures, each specimen is individually examined and measured to ensure its suitability for testing.
Each of the cutting dies used is maintained under our ISO 10012-compliant calibration system to ensure the best possible specimen quality.
When a project calls for extrusion and pelletizing prior to injection or compression molding, CRT maintains in-house capabilities with a 1-1/2" Single-screw Albe extruder and Foremost Type 2A•1 cutting knives, hence the guarantee of high-quality processing from the beginning of a project through to the final test results. Twin-Screw can also be applied when mixing of the additives is crucial (please call).
